Elon Musk’s aerospace engineering company SpaceX will look to make history this afternoon as the company seeks to launch the most powerful rocket in hours. Known as the Starship, this rocket is said to be around 120m tall and will have thrust that is almost double that of any other rocket in history.

The launch will take place on April 17 at 2:00 p.m. BST / 3:00 p.m. CEST, and will be completed in Boca Chica, Texas, with the aim of seeing the rocket lift off and complete a single Earth orbit before returning to the surface. of the planet.

As this will be the rocket’s maiden voyage, the chances of failure are high, and SpaceX CEO Musk made that clear in a tweet that simply reads: “Success perhaps, thrill guaranteed.”

Musk also explained this in a recent Twitter Spaces chat where he added: “If we launch, I would consider victory anything that doesn’t result in the destruction of the launch pad itself.”
