Announced with enthusiasm last February, The Wolf Among Us 2 will not see the light of day this year as planned. The original release date has been pushed back to 2024, as Telltale announced this week.

The decision was difficult, but necessary to ensure the quality and consistency of Bigby’s story and the rest of the Fabletown gang. According to Telltale CEO Jamie Ottilie, releasing the game in 2023 would have meant delivering an unfinished product or subjecting the team to difficult working conditions, which was not an option.

The Wolf Among Us 2 release pushed back to 2024

In fact, to protect the health of his team and give fans the following they deserve, Telltale has made the decision to delay the release of The Wolf Among Us 2 until 2024. A choice also motivated by the transition of the studio from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5 for game development.

But this decision to delay the release of the game is not only motivated by technical or economic considerations. It’s also part of maintaining a healthy work culture and not burning out Telltale employees. Jamie Ottilie thus underlined the importance of not giving in to the crunch, the habit of making teams work intensely for long periods.

The wolf between us 2, la sequel to the 2013/14 episodic thriller based on Bill Willingham’s Fables comic book series, sera available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC and should distance itself from the first episode. The game will still be released episodically and all content will be completed before the first episode begins, according to Jamie Ottilie. Fans will therefore have to be patient to discover the rest of the adventures of Bigby and his companions.
