Continuing from last year ps5 professional dev kit rumours, a new report has claimed that Sony’s mid-range upgrade has entered production. Well-known insider Tom Henderson has heard from his sources that Sony will begin phasing out the original PS5 model later this year.
When will the PS5 Pro be released?
Writing for his Insider Gaming article, Henderson says the PS5 Pro is targeting a late 2024 release window. Before the update rolls out, however, Sony will begin phasing out current PS5 hardware and replacing it with the supposed PS5 model. feature a removable lead. unit, which will presumably be thinner. This model is expected to be rolled out later in 2023.
Rumors of a PS5 with removable disk drive and Pro console, as well as a Pro controller, started doing the rounds last year. Sony didn’t confirm the existence of the new console models, but did eventually announce the Pro controller, also known as the DualSense Edge. That said, the company is reportedly having a major showcase planned for E3 2023, so we might get confirmation of a PS5 with a removable drive around that time.
Take all of this with the usual grain of salt, but a mid-gen upgrade doesn’t seem out of reach.
