Hogwarts Legacy released a new update earlier this week aimed at online connectivity and ray-tracing support, and it turns out the patch notes left out the most important part: tell Ignatia Wildsmith to shut up.

Chandler Wood, community manager for developer Avalanche, confirmed the omitted change in a peep (opens in a new tab). “Reduced the frequency of Ignatia Wildsmith’s lines (a significant reduction), so while traveling is definitely more convenient with Floo Dust, you won’t have to listen to it constantly,” he said.

If you haven’t heard Ignatia Wildsmith, you haven’t played Hogwarts Legacy, or you’ve played hard mode dodging Floo Flame’s fast travel. Ignatia is the inventor of Flooing, and she never misses an opportunity to point it out or simply nag him about his plans for the day. The Witch is just one of those overly talkative NPCs you get sick of hearing about, especially when her incessant dialogue is tied to fast travel, which is pretty important.

Ignatia has become so infamous among Hogwarts Legacy gamers that many have crowned her the most hated character in the Harry Potter canon, villains like Voldemort be damned. Is it necessary? Probably not; I can think of at least one witch that I find considerably more annoying. But Ignatia’s dialogue is quite irritating, so this patch is a welcome change.

The release of Hogwarts Legacy has been the subject of criticism and debate due to JK Rowling’s public stance on gender identity, which continues to challenge inclusion at the heart of the Harry Potter community. Here is our explanation on the Hogwarts legacy controversy.
