Nintendo has released a new, lengthy trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The video debuted during a Nintendo Direct that aired on Wednesday, with confirmation that pre-orders opened today.

Following the Nintendo Direct, Nintendo also confirmed that Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be available for $70.

In addition to the standard version, which will be available for the suggested price of $69.99, a Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition will be available for purchase for the recommended price of $129.99, which includes a physical version of the game, a book of art with concept art, a steelbook case, an Iconart steel poster, and a set of four badges.

Nintendo wrote: “In this sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you’ll decide your own path through the sprawling landscapes of Hyrule and the mysterious islands that float in the vast sky.”

“Can you harness the power of Link’s new abilities to battle the malevolent forces threatening the kingdom?”

In June 2021, after two years without significant updates, the platform released a new trailer for Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 and confirmed plans to release the game in 2022. It was later pushed back to spring 2023. Finally received its official title, Tears of the Kingdom, late last year.

The new Zelda game is said to have been born out of DLC ideas for the first Switch game that took on a life of its own, so while it’s expected to build on what players have seen before, the foundation is likely similar.

Nintendo suggested that the tone of this game will be a bit darker. The trailers confirm this with their haunting background music and creepy monsters.

Zelda Creative Director Eiji Aonuma also mentioned that Red Dead Redemption 2 could be inspirational for the team this time around.
