The Last of Us: the “radically different” season 2 of the game?
On the occasion of the broadcast of the final episode of this first season, Neil Druckmann, the executive producer, participated in a press conference rich in elements to remember. Afterwards, he notably mentioned the continuation which will be given to the character of Ellie and to the actress who will play the role. If she wants it, Bella Ramsey will come back!
We’re extremely lucky to have Bella and everything you’ve seen throughout this season. The only way to consider changing Bella’s role would be if she said, “I don’t want to work with you anymore.” Even then, I’m not sure we’d give him that. We could still force her back in Season 2.
Having been the first season the theater of some changes compared to the original work, Druckmann also wanted to discuss the structure and form the sequel might take. According to him and Craig Mazin, the showrunner of the series, several changes will be made.
Season 2 will be different, just like this season was different. Sometimes it will be radically different, and sometimes it won’t be much different, but it will be different. It will be your own thing. It won’t be exactly like the game. It will be the show that Neil and I want to do.
