Tom Clancy’s The Division 3 is not in the works at Ubisoft, according to a recent report. This despite The Division 2 for PS4, which released in 2019, has a pretty good Metascore of 82 and the publisher claimed in May 2020 that The Division 2 had sold over 10 million units.

The Division 3 not in Ubisoft’s previous releases report this year

While a sequel to The Division 2 isn’t in development, according to unnamed sources “close to the business” speaking to Insider Gaming, the game’s next major update is still planned. However, this update is “currently overdue” due to game-breaking bugs. Specifically, Ubisoft said in an official statement peep on February 9 that there was “a bug that broke the build generation system” for the game that will require the system to be rebuilt.

That means fans of The Division series will likely have to stick with The Division 2 for at least the next three years, given the long development cycle for AAA games these days. The game is currently in Season 10, called Price of Power, which includes legendary difficulty for various strongholds and a new endgame mode called Countdown.

This report coincides with another from January that Ubisoft still plans to release five or more PS5 games by March 2024. These include Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Skull and Bones, xDefiant, and Tom Clancy’s The Division . Heartland. The Division 3 wasn’t mentioned on this shortlist at the time, suggesting it was missing or could have been pushed to a later date, but it looks like the game isn’t even in development.
