Always keep an eye on your card
It can be difficult to keep track of every little collectible in every room, but Resident Evil 4 Remake makes it easy by constantly updating your map whenever you see something. This includes ammo, blue medallions, health items – if Leon or Ashley saw it, the item should show up on your map when you check it. All you have to do is walk into a room and items start appearing on your map. It is important to note that this does not include special items like Mechanical Castellans or weapons that can be hidden.
Flash Grenades can instantly kill special enemies.
Resident Evil 4 Remake’s infected villagers are tougher than the zombies seen in Raccoon City as they can regenerate after they die. These enemies grow tentacles that replace the host’s head; not only does their attack range increase, but they also deal more damage. Keep your eyes on the ground to avoid traps.
If you thought fighting the villagers was hard enough, you also need to watch out for the various traps scattered around the ground. From bear traps to laser mines, there’s nothing these enemies won’t do to stop Leon in his tracks. Throw your knife at nearby bear traps to close them, or you can spend ammo to activate them, though we wouldn’t recommend doing this if you’re trying to conserve resources. As for tripwire mines, you can get close to them to defuse them, saving you valuable bullets and potentially some of your health.
Upgrading your weapons makes the shooting gallery easier
While upgrading your weapons has the obvious benefit of being extremely useful in combat, you might not know that this upgrade also affects weapons in the firing range. There’s a reason you can suddenly hit more targets in previous shooting range missions when you get to the end of the game, it’s because your guns have been upgraded.
As your guns increase in rate of fire and ammo capacity, challenges in the range become much easier as you can hit more targets without having to reload. Don’t worry about reaching higher ranks in the shooting gallery at the start of the game, come back to the merchant in a later game to show him how good your aim really is.
Look for melee opportunities whenever possible
The key to conserving ammo in Resident Evil 4 Remake is using Leon’s brutal melee attacks to punch, grab, and smash your way through hordes of enemies. Use these melee openings to your advantage when fighting multiple enemies at once to deal damage to everyone around you.
You can shoot enemies’ feet to stun them, which leads to a grappling hook attack. Likewise, headshot enemies will put them in a similar state, giving you a chance to knock them down. If an enemy runs at you, aim for their feet to trip them up and immediately stab them with the combat knife to kill them instantly.
The combat knife is your most powerful weapon.
You should always upgrade and repair your knife as often as possible, as it is the most reliable weapon you have access to. Your combat knife is essential as a defensive tool, as it can parry powerful enemy attacks like chainsaws and throw pesky villager axes. It’s also just as powerful when used as an offensive tool, preventing enemies from transforming into its Plague A form as long as you stab them mid-transformation. You can rely on the Rocket Launcher for tough bosses
Some players like to pick up and upgrade powerful weapons like the Rifle or Magnum for emergency use against bosses in Resident Evil 4 Remake, but did you know the Rocket Launcher is just as good? In fact, from a financial standpoint, the Rocket Launcher costs you 80,000 pesetas, but that’s considerably less than fully upgrading any weapon in the game.
Whenever you get to a particularly tricky boss, just buy a rocket launcher and shoot him in the face with it. Most of the time the boss should go down without too much of a fight. There are a few exceptions to this, but for the most part most bosses and enemies can be defeated in a single blast.
