In an interview with Total Film magazine, Taron Egerton discussed his upcoming role on Apple TV+ and Marv Studios’ Tetris, as well as popular rumors that he’ll be playing the new James Bond.

Tetris tells the story of Henk Rogers’ role in the development and distribution of the popular game, and brings Egerton’s character to meet producer Matthew Vaughn.

Egerton was excited about the upcoming release of Tetris.

He said: “I had a hard time getting used to the idea. I read it and was mad as hell, you know?

“It’s a crazy story with a lovely, quirky central character. And yeah, I thought, ‘Why not?’ I’m going to take some of it. It was just at the end of the first confinement that I signed on to do the film.

“The world had been at a standstill for a few months, and I was so excited to get back there.”

Egerton has also been linked to James Bond rumors, particularly for his role as Eggsy in the Kingsman franchise.

When asked, he said: “I think they already have someone, and it’s not me. I’ve never been in the talks. I’ve never met the Broccoli. They never asked about me.”

“I’ve never been one of the guys who gets noticed. I don’t think I’m the right person for that. I think there are many, many, many better candidates than me for the job. But, you know, I would be very willing. They’re brilliant movies.”

Egerton just wrapped filming the next Netflix movie Carry-On, and historical fiction Tetris is streaming on Apple TV+ on March, 31stwhile Carry-On does not yet have a release date.
