“The best way to describe how Wo Long feels is to combine the visuals and swordplay of Dynasty Warriors and Nioh games with a touch of Sekiro. What happens is you have a pretty tough game, but so rewarding when you conquer the seemingly impossible.”

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is an excellent action-RPG that offers an even more challenging take on the increasingly popular Soulslike formula. It’s fast, frenetic and hits like a truck, with one of the most hypnotic combat systems we’ve ever had.” fun to master This might scare off even the most casual gamer, but those looking for a challenge, hey well, look no further.”

Although its second half failed to match what came before it, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a refined delight. His action is precise and responsive, and learning the intricacies of each opponent is extremely satisfying. While I wish its latest expansion was scaled down or had more enemy variety, it’s a rare title that induces trance-like focus and euphoric moments of victory. It may not reach the heights of the works that inspired it, but it’s close.”

IGN (8/10)

“Its action is fast and thrilling, the options for defeating its ferocious foes are plentiful and immensely rewarding to master, and its Deviant combat is some of the most satisfying since Sekiro. All of these strengths outweigh an overbearing loot system, poor storytelling and even a disappointing lack of enemy variety. Without that, Wo Long might have been one of Team Ninja’s greatest achievements, as it stands, it’s just awesome.”

“At the end of the day, no matter how many times you stare into the eye of the tiger, what matters most here is the thrill of combat, living up to the challenge of your rivals. When you meet the biggest or most formidable enemy head-on, hold your ground then throw your best combo like a martial arts master, before impaling it in the stomach, it’s irresistibly exciting. Wo Long’s cocktail of measured tackles and furious strikes alone should keep the warrior focused until the very end. calm down and move on.”

His parry-based combat is often stellar, and Team Ninja has made a number of clever changes to make Wo Long feel fresh, even if there’s still a hint of familiarity. It has its issues, but if you fancy a fast action RPG based on satisfying combat, Wo Long ticks most of the right boxes.

If another Team Ninja Soulslike focused on stopping and inventory management sounds like a good time, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty it will certainly deliver, but a lack of mechanical polish and an inconsistently bloated campaign can be a tough sell for the uninitiated.”

CVG (6/10)

“Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is enjoyable through and through, but at no point does it feel essential. The combat is slick and the morale system is new, but there was nothing holding us back after each session.

More of a side step than an evolution of Nioh 2, Wo Long is inventive and an adventure worth taking on, even if it’s technically dodgy on PS5, but it won’t be remembered for long once you will have killed your last boss. .

Wow! These are very good scores overall, so with the game currently running 82 on Metacritic for Xbox Series X at the time of writing. This title looks like a fantastic addition to Xbox Game Pass: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will be available tomorrow, March 3.
