You read that right, ahead of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s release date later this year, the less successful Batman Arkham villain appears to have been spotted in new footage from developer Rocksteady’s superhero game. While we don’t know what capacity they’ll appear in, it seems highly likely that they will in the new Suicide Squad game.

As Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a continuation of the Batman Arkham games, with the late Kevin Conroy’s Batman among the returning DC characters, it’s perhaps not that surprising to hear that. Riddler is back in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueas his iconic nickname appears in the most recent trailer to give it away.

As NicholasJLevi pointed out in BloodA glowing green question mark can be seen in new Suicide Squad gameplay footage, confirming the Riddler’s return, but not necessarily his Riddler trophies.

Now I say he’s the least successful villain, but I actually think the Riddler trophies and puzzles in the Batman Arkham games were pretty good. It’s just that by the time you get to the latest games, the Riddler develops what’s actually a riddle, and Batman easily defeats him in every game.

What planet does the Riddler saying “beat that assault race time trial in your car” in Batman Arkham Knight remotely pose as a real enigma? The further we get from Arkham Asylum, the more the man starts to cling to straws, and I’m understandably hesitant to see this new live service tackling the DC Universe turning Riddler into more sideline content.

While this discussion of Riddler in the Suicide Squad game is a bit amusing, news about how Rocksteady’s new game will play and what it means for launch has been met with a lot more skepticism.

The game’s Q&A page says “an internet connection is required to play Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League solo or online co-op”, and it wouldn’t be a modern live service game if it didn’t. There wasn’t some kind of battle pass of course.

“Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will have a cosmetic-only post-launch battle pass system to get new outfits, emotes, and other items to customize playable characters,” the Q&A reads. “Each Battle Pass will have Free Tiers available for free to all Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League players, as well as Premium Tiers that will be available through an optional in-game purchase. will not affect gameplay in any way.”
