A new costume and realistic muscle strain in Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

In addition to featuring an Advanced Tech Suit (a futuristic outfit created for time travel) and a number of bug fixes, the new update to Spider-Man : Miles Morales incorporates a new feature in the PS5 version. Certain Miles costumes now have realistic muscle strain. This essentially means that the muscle and tissue animations are much more realistic and detailed. This technique is traditionally used in movies, and the extra power of the PS5 over the PS4 has undoubtedly helped the developers ofInsomniac Games to highlight muscle deformation in real time.

We fully simulated the character from the inside out, using techniques that were previously only available in theaters. Every deformation you see on the surface of the costume is the result of muscle and fabric simulation“, a déclaré Josh DiCarlo, lead character technical director chez Insomniac Games.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales has proven to be a success for Sony Interactive Entertainment as in 2020 it sold over 4.1 million units. This figure includes both PS5 and PS4 copies, both digital and physical. By comparison, Insomniac Games’ first Spider-Man sold over 3.3 million copies in the span of three days.
