In a shocking turn of events, the FTC ordered Sony to reveal numerous corporate secrets to Microsoft.

As we reported a while ago, Sony may need to let Microsoft know what it was working on as part of the Activision Blizzard deal investigation, but now it’s official. Sony will be obligated to provide Microsoft with information about Sony’s exclusivity agreements, as well as four years of company records.

Microsoft isn’t getting everything it wanted, but it certainly looks like an overall win for Xbox owners, as they’ve faced constant criticism and complaints from Sony over their acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

We don’t know what will happen to this FTC subpoena, but it could be that Microsoft is using this information to claim that Sony has enough exclusives in the video game market, which would contradict the argument according to which buying Activision Blizzard would push him. Microsoft towards a monopoly in the sector.
