It will arrive on Thursday, March 23 and will be the first of three content updates for the game. Although the email is vague on what will be included in this free update, a previously revealed roadmap details what will probably be added.

Updated sights, sounds and speed likely to add Jukebox and photo mode

As for the “recently added features and modes” for Sonic Frontiers mentioned in the tweet above, these will likely be the Juke Box, Photo Mode, and a new Challenge Mode. This is based on another November 2022 tweet from the official Sonic the Hedgehog account outlining the next three free updates that will be included in the 2023 content roadmap.

It’s unclear what this new Challenge mode will be, though many fans are hoping for some sort of Boss Rush mode. However, we won’t have to wait long to see what Sega has in store for us here.

As for the next two updates, Sega is planning the second expansion to add Open Zone challenges and a new Koco, while also celebrating Sonic’s birthday with a special in-game event. update is scheduled for June 23.

After that, the third free update will feature new playable characters and a new story. There’s no release date yet, but given the timing of the first two updates, it should unofficially arrive in the fall of 2023.
