According to a recent job posting, The naughty dog is hiring an Associate Multiplayer QA Tester/Dev Support, but what’s interesting is that this role would work on “multiplayer titles“, suggesting that something more than just a The Last of Us multiplayer game is in the works.

Naughty Dog recently teased more about a new The Last of Us multiplayer game, possibly similar to the first game’s Factions game mode, coming this year. It hasn’t been “officially” announced and doesn’t have a proper title as of yet.

Prior to the release of The Last of Us 2, it was planned to include a multiplayer mode which was eventually removed. Naughty Dog explained at the time that the two parts of the project were so ambitious that this multiplayer component could not be a simple online mode.

Fans have been waiting for an update ever since, but as things stand, it looks like they’ll want to be ready for at least two updates eventually.

Naughty Dog’s announcement for a QA tester isn’t out of the ordinary in terms of responsibilities or goals. Individuals who apply and are hired will need to be able to identify, record and resolve gambling problems; perform regression testing for bugs, if any; have a working knowledge of the PS4 and PS5 ecosystems; have the ability to accept additional responsibilities as required; much more.

Sit down; Naughty Dog is developing not one but two multiplayer games

The announcement also states that the QA tester will bring a high level of sensitivity and attention to detail to the company’s “first standalone multiplayer project”, but also defines the role of “QA support/targeted development “in our multiplayer titles (emphasis added)”.
