Shrapnel has announced new details on an upcoming free mint for SCUs or Sigma Containment Units. Only 10,000 of these NFTs will be available, and accessing them requires earning a spot on the whitelist. But don’t worry, you still have time to do it!

The highly anticipated FPS game, Shrapnel, recently won awards at Gam3r’s Choice and Gam3 Awards competitions. Now they bring us news of an upcoming free mint. This mint is for NFTs known as Sigma Containment Units or SCUs.

Sigma Containment Units are in-game items used to store SIGMA, which are collected by players during gameplay. Additionally, having an NFT SCU will provide additional benefits such as:

  • Membership in a cardholder-only community
  • Early access to authoring tools
  • Exclusive content for Creator Tools
  • Limited edition content from partner collaborations
  • Rare in-game SCU skins

The Shrapnel team says they partnered with a few artists to create the exclusive skin rewards. These skins will be available in Avalanche.

There are several ways to whitelist this currency. The easiest way is to have an NFT Trader and verify your portfolio via Discord. Beyond that, keep an eye on Shrapnel’s social media channels for contests, giveaways, and community collaborations. They also plan to open an application form at some point.

In an interesting twist, this mint will occur simultaneously across three blockchains, with NFTs evenly distributed between each. This mint includes Ethereum, Polygon, and Avalanche. There will be 3,333 SCUs available in each chain, with a coiner in Avalanche receiving a unique 1/1 SCU airdropped!

We don’t yet know the date of this strike, so there is still time to acquire one of these whitelisted spots!

What is a shrapnel?

Shrapnel is a mission-based first-person shooter where players join the warzone as operators of one of many teams tasked with collecting and extracting valuable resources. But other operators compete for the same resources, creating a high-stakes atmosphere that encourages risk-taking and rewards player skill.

Players equip their operators with the appropriate gear that suits their playstyle. Gear (in NFT form) is dropped when a player dies and can be looted by other players. Additionally, players can collect the mysterious Compound Sigma. They must then fight their way to one of the extraction sites and survive long enough to escape and claim their loot!

Shrapnel is based on player-created content. This takes the form of tournaments, as well as player-created NFTs. Players can even design their own unique toiletries to sell to other players! They will own the land and want to expand the crafting possibilities to player-created maps and map items as well! They plan to have their own token, SHRAP. Players will be able to wager SHRAP on the cards they like, sharing rewards from games on that card. Meanwhile, unpopular cards will be reduced to lower reward tiers.

Shrapnel also plans to create a community hub, DAO governance, and reputation system!

Shrapnel made its initial sale of Operators in June 2022. Operators can be acquired in secondary markets.
