The GTA Trilogy will receive new patches. And that’s next week. Rockstar has finally broken its silence regarding new updates for GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, announcing the info via a statement on Twitter.

How the GTA Trilogy continues

When are the patches coming? Rockstar has not yet communicated an exact release date. At the moment we only know that the GTA Trilogy should receive a first patch in 2022 in the week starting February 28th. In the Rockstar tweet is from new patches the speech, so the updates may be split.

For which platforms is the patch released? According to Rockstar, the update is to be released all platforms be played for which the GTA Trilogy is available. That means players on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, as well as PS4 and Xbox One can look forward to the update.

What exactly do the patches fix? It is currently not known what problems the updates will specifically address, how big the first patch will be in 2022 and how the GTA Trilogy will continue afterwards. Is Rockstar finally working on its communications? Under the comments of the tweet, some encouragement among players and fans can be seen. Because Rockstar Games communicates more openly and transparently than was the case in previous months.

The lack of communication caused a lot of frustration in the Grand Theft Auto community and especially in Red Dead Redemption. A circumstance that we denounced in our column on the subject at the beginning of 2022.

Since then, the wind seems to be turning at least hesitantly: Rockstar not only officially confirmed the development of GTA 6, but is now also giving an overdue update to the GTA Trilogy.

What are the problems with the GTA Trilogy?

The launch of the new editions of GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas can be described as a debacle with a clear conscience – which is reflected in international tests and user ratings. The launch was overshadowed by numerous technical problems that continue to this day. In the meantime even sales had to be stopped and the trilogy was temporarily removed from the players’ libraries.

In our test, we referred to the GTA Trilogy as Rockstar’s greatest disgrace and our technology expert Nils also denounced that it should never have come this far. We also explain what remasters should not look like in our detailed Plus report.

Since then, Rockstar has tried to turn things around. PC players received not only the classic versions of GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas, but also another Rockstar game for free as an apology. However, console players got nothing. Whether the GTA Trilogy 2022 really becomes one with new updates and patches Definitive Edition can be, must first be shown.
