The free DLC update for Mercenaries mode will be released on April 7 according to the game’s launch trailer. It’s unclear if players will still need to complete the campaign for the first time on any difficulty in order to play mode, as required in the original PS2/Gamecube version.
Mercenaries mode is an arcade-style mode in which players earn points for each enemy killed before being evacuated by helicopter after a certain time, although time extensions can give players more time. While enemy bosses are worth more points than normal enemies, players rack up the highest scores by chaining together kill combos.
