Although there is still a certain disconnect between the world of mobile gaming and that of PC and consoles, it is clear that the largest gaming community belongs to mobile devices. With billions of smartphones in circulation, it’s no wonder mobile gaming is the most lucrative development platform, and studios are taking notice.

As revealed in the annual Unity Gaming report, it is mentioned that consumers played more mobile games in 2022 than in 2021 (about 8% more to be exact), and that game studios are moving towards creating more titles exclusively for mobile.

While development studios of all sizes jumped on this trend, it was the biggest ones that saw the biggest increase, with mobile-only production up 44%. If we look at large corporations like Ubisoft and in the fact that its future range of products is composed mainly of mobile titles, there is no doubt that this trend is confirmed.

But the fact that mobile production has doubled does not mean that other platforms are suffering. The report adds that major studios created 16% more cross-platform games in 2022 than in 2021.
