Vampires galore prowl the streets of Redfall, but there are even more sinister leeches lurking in the shadows of Bethesda and Arkane Austin’s upcoming co-op game. A new Redfall story trailer delves into the infamous Aevum Therapeutics company responsible for the initial outbreak and gives us a glimpse of what we’ll discover when Redfall’s release date rolls around.
“All we know so far is that it started with Aevum,” begins the latest official story trailer, “A Company of Immortality-Thirsty Parasites.” This Therapeutic Society thus seems to be the point of origin for the vampiric creatures, which has since led to the eclipse of the sun and the rise of cults and chaos in the streets.
This resulted in the arrival of particularly powerful figures, treated as gods by some of the cults operating in the city. We take a quick look at some of these “incredibly powerful vampires who rule Redfall” who seem to be key adversaries as we progress through the FPS game’s campaign.
Among these are The Hollow Man, Bloody Tom, Miss Whisper and The Black Sun: “Gods created by science…but how do you stop them?” To find an answer, you’ll need to explore the game’s open world, which developer Arkane says is more like Ubisoft’s Far Cry than Valve’s Left 4 Dead.
Redfall gameplay footage included in the trailer also shows the player entering mysterious doors flooded with brightly colored energy, which promise to provide clues as to how we’ll begin to end all this mayhem. The trailer ends with the last glimpse of a pale figure in a high-backed dress with long pointy fingernails who could very well be one of the main antagonists: “I am the last…and the first. I will take everything you have.
