To prevent back pain in-game, Sony wants to allow its PS5 to detect when you have poor posture while gaming.

Players can’t say otherwise! In front of our console, we tend to lean over and adopt a bad posture. Manufacturers are aware of this, like Sony, which is still at war with Microsoft over Call of Duty. The company wants to help you behave when playing your PS5.

Better posture during your PS5 sessions

Sony has filed a patent that goes in the direction of the health of its community. The manufacturer wants gamers adopt the best posture possible when playing on the PS5. You are not taught anything, several years of bad postures can lead to very unpleasant back pain and medical procedures for its treatment. Therefore, Sony has a little idea to straighten the backs of millions of gamers (if the technology presented in the patent is to be marketed).

The patent tells us that the PS5’s DualSense could analyze a player’s movements and then use the data to help improve their posture. The form adopted would be that of a friendly notification straighten up or take a break. This reduces stress and back pain caused by bad habits.

A game intervention server can assess, based on learning models, the posture and physical movements of players, and then detect repetitive, unbalanced or excessive postures to compare them and identify bad positions.

Sony filed other interesting patents during the year. The PS5 could benefit from a ” virtual dojo for players to improve their skills before starting a game. There is also talk of an artificial intelligence for the console, it seems that ChatGPT inspires many manufacturers! Of course, the filing of these patents does not mean that these technologies will see the light of day. The company defends its interests and protects your ideas by leaving the possibility of proposing them to the public in the future. In no case do we refuse an improvement of the posture in game.
