Project Red, which recently opened its public alpha, is now announcing free weekends. Open every other weekend, Project Red joins the growing group of high-quality FPS games available on the web3 space.
Every other weekend (starting with open play this weekend, Feb. 10-12), Project Red Alpha will be free. Anyone can download the game and join the trials of this new mafia-themed FPS. Although a larger world is planned, this current alpha is only for Blood Arena, an in-game FPS contest.
Project Red is still in alpha testing. And while they’re running contests with prizes for players during the alpha, they won’t be offering rewards to free players at this time. However, it’s still a great opportunity to test the game, give your opinion, and take a look at one of the new FPS games in the Web3 space.
Players can download the game here. The team brought a new version at the end of the month, with a new map, new weapon, new training and private matches. Project Red’s public alpha was first released on January 27, 2023.
What is Project Red?
Project Red is a 3D open world social hub built on Unreal Engine with various subgames including Blood Arena. Project Red is a mafia-themed game, with plans for players to own in-game land and businesses, as well as competition between groups for resources and bragging rights.
The game runs on the MultiversX blockchain (formerly known as Elrond). Therefore, players will need an appropriate wallet and the native ELGD token to make purchases. Players can get Elrond Mafia NFTs in The current Alpha also includes Free Weekends. But Elrond Mafia NFT holders can play anytime and earn rewards in various leaderboards and contests.
Project Red is only available on PC. Players can create custom game avatars based on the characteristics of the NFTs they own. They can also earn EGLD tokens by playing.
The team plans to continue adding new maps, weapons, and game modes in the coming months. Project Red is just one facet of a larger ecosystem being built around Elrond’s mafia.

What is Elrond’s mob?
Elrond Mafia, is a collection of 5555 Mafia themed PFPs. The creators of this collection plan to build a gaming ecosystem around PFPs. The first 1000 NFTs in the collection (number 1-1000) are considered DAO NFTs and are given special access. Since then, the team has released other NFTs to their holders, original coiners, and involved community members.
The team envisions Project Red to act as a social hub and central location to access the various activities associated with the ecosystem. This includes minigames, base building, farming, and more. They also reward those who stake their NFTs with regular airdrops. The Elrond mafia has big plans to create all kinds of dapps, cross the chains and become a metaverse.
