We’ll be getting an update for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet at the end of February, and it should fix bugs and introduce a number of new features to the game.

As revealed on Nintendo’s support page (opens in a new tab), developer Game Freak plans to roll out the version 1.2.0 update “late February”; does not yet have a release date. The patch notes for said update read, “With this update, we plan to add functionality to Pokémon Boxes and fix bugs that affect game progression, among other updates.” The post then adds, “We will continue to take your feedback very seriously and take steps to improve your gaming experience.”

So what can we expect from Update 1.2.0? Well, the patch notes say that soon trainers will be able to change their Pokemon’s nickname, marks, held item, and titles tied to the mark or ribbon, as well as rearrange moves, make Pokemon remember moves and forget moves and use TM too. . Not only that, but players can swap held items by pressing the Y button while in the Held Items view.

Other notable changes to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are that players will soon be able to select “All Boxes” while moving Pokémon or items in party and box view, and item-in-hand view. In addition to this, in Battle Team view, the icons of boxed Pokémon that are assigned to a Battle Team will soon display in a darker shade, if those Pokémon are members of the displayed Battle Team. Finally, the News screen will show up when you connect to the internet from the Main Menu, just like when you connect to the internet through the Poke Portal.

These aren’t all new features however, this patch will also implement a number of bug fixes, too numerous to list here. However, right at the end of the patch notes it read: “We are planning more features and bug fixes that are not listed in these patch notes” which means a few more updates are still awaited for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
