Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Update Coming Soon (Version 1.2.0) Patch Notes

Posted on February 17, 2023 by Nicolas in News, Switch

Nintendo and The Pokemon Company previously announced that a major update for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet was due out in February, providing bug fixes and adding new features. While we don’t yet know exactly when the update will be released this month, patch notes have been released detailing the update’s additions.

The main focus seems to revolve around Pokemon Box management, with the update making several quality of life changes to make navigating this menu more convenient. Beyond that, a slew of bug fixes are coming to Tera Raid Battles, along with a handful of fixes to the overall combat system and other game elements.

Unlike the last update, fixing issues related to game performance is not particularly highlighted, although some of the changes made will also improve this. It should also be noted that other features and bug fixes not listed in these patch notes will be released with the update, so this is not the full list of changes either.

Here are the patch notes for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet update 1.2.0:

Feature settings

  • Additional features will be added for Pokémon Boxes:
    • From a Pokémon’s summary, players will be able to edit nicknames, marks, held items, and titles tied to the Pokémon mark or ribbon, as well as rearrange moves, make Pokémon remember moves, make Pokémon forget moves and use TM. .
    • Players will be able to swap held items by pressing the Y Button while in the held objects seen.
    • Players will be able to select all boxes while moving Pokémon or objects in the party and boxes look and held objects seen.
    • when in the combat uniform view, Pokémon in your boxes that are assigned to a battle team will now have their icons displayed in a darker shade if those Pokémon are members of the currently displayed battle team.
  • The News screen will appear when you connect to the Internet from the Main Menu, just like when you connect to the Internet from the Poké Portal.

Correction of errors

Tera Raid Battles

  • A bug that may prevent an opposing Tera Pokémon’s HP gauge from correctly reflecting damage done by certain moves (such as Play Rough) or certain status conditions may occur in Tera Raid Battles, causing the HP gauge to fluctuate unusually of the Pokemon. It will be corrected.
  • A bug that causes all Pokémon on your side to faint despite their HP gauges showing they still have HP can occur in Black Crystal Tera Raid battles against Pokémon with the strongest mark. It will be corrected.
  • A bug may occur that temporarily prevents a player from entering an in-game entry if a Tera Pokémon performs certain actions while the player is choosing the target of their move. It will be corrected.
  • A bug that causes a communication error can occur when someone logging into a Tera Raid battle sees a different Pokémon on their screen than what the host sees. It will be corrected.
  • An error may occur that causes players who join Tera Raid Battle from the Tera Raid Battles search screen to be taken to Tera Raid Battle against a different Pokemon than the one they saw on screen. It will be corrected.
  • A bug that prevents Tera Raid Battle crystals from spawning for a set period of time may occur under certain circumstances. It will be corrected.

battles

  • Type clashes against Pokemon that have fainted will no longer appear when selecting a move or target during Double Battles.
  • A Zoroark that has been knocked down and is disguised as another Pokémon thanks to its Illusion Ability can identify itself as a Zoroark by using the Check Target option. This is a bug and will be fixed.
  • When a Zoroark has terastallized and disguises itself as another Pokemon via its Illusion Ability, move type pairings are displayed based on the type of Pokemon Zoroark is disguised as, rather than Zoroark’s Tera type. This is a bug and will be fixed.
  • The stats of a Dondozo with a Tatsugiri in its mouth will increase when Dondozo uses Order Up, even when the move should have been canceled (e.g. by an opponent using Protect). This is a bug and will be fixed.
  • If a Pokémon terastalizes after using Destiny Bond and then faints, Destiny Bond’s effects will not activate. This is a bug and will be fixed.

Other

  • We are going to fix an issue that may cause the game to force quit in some places. As a result of this hotfix, there may be a reduction in Pokemon and people showing up in certain towns or in the wild.
  • When a Pokémon that is not part of the Paldea Pokédex is obtained through a link exchange, it appears as registered in the Paldea Pokédex. This is a bug and will be fixed.
  • Some actions may prevent the main character’s expressions from changing until the game is closed and reopened. It will be corrected.
  • An error occurred for some players after Ranked Battles Season 1, where visiting the Ranked Battles screen immediately after calculating the season results caused a communication error right after those players received their rewards. After this bug, players could no longer participate in Ranked Battles. It will be corrected.
  • If a player has created multiple Battle Teams but does not use the Battle Team in the first slot for their Ranked Battles, they may not receive the Master Rank ribbon after winning Ranked Battles at the Master Ball level. It will be corrected.
  • When a Pokémon you caught comes back to you from another player via Link Trade, it may not listen to your commands according to what is written in the profile app (“Pokémon caught at Lv. XX or lower will listen for your commands”). It will be corrected.
  • A bug prevents the Pokédex from showing additional entries (such as entries for Shiny Pokémon or Pokémon received via Surprise from players playing in a different language) for Pokémon species that were already registered in the Pokédex. It will be corrected.
  • Items such as Poké Balls may appear unintentionally in certain locations on the field. It will be corrected.
  • Spectators will no longer show up during certain battles that take place in towns during the main story.
  • Other selected bug fixes will be implemented.
