The upcoming DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will introduce two new Legendaries, Ogerpon and Terapagos, and there’s already a lot of love for the latter.

Announced earlier this week during February’s Pokémon Presents, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will receive a two-part DLC called The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. The first part, The Teal Mask, will introduce the legendary Pokémon Ogerpon, while the second part, The Indigo Disk, will add Therapagos.

Getting new Pokémon to add to our Pokedex is always exciting, but there seems to be a lot of interest around Terapagos in particular. It’s not hard to see why, the turtle-like creature sports a stunning color palette of blues, yellows, pinks and more, in addition to possessing many gem-like qualities. Simply put, it’s a pretty Pokemon.

There are also theories that he could have been hiding in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in plain sight, as @pointed outquestionable monthly (opens in a new tab) on Twitter, Terápagos looks like the map of Paldea from above. Talk about what inspired the design of Terapagos has also made the rounds online, with some fans theorizing it may have been inspired by Canada’s Indigenous history of Turtle Island (opens in a new tab), and others that suggest it may be related to the Japanese folk story Momotarō.

Terápagos also has a following on Reddit (opens in a new tab), which rose to prominence in the comments of a post sharing details about the upcoming DLC. “Didn’t expect Disk Legendary to be so… cute,” said one user, it seems the feeling was mutual, as another said, “I was hoping they would look so supernatural they would make Eternatus (Gen 8 Legendary) look normal.”

Unfortunately, we have to wait a bit before we can see Therapagos in digital flesh. The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC won’t be released for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet until later this year, with The Teal Mask set to launch “fall” 2023 and The Indigo Disk (the part that will feature Terapagos) is not expected before “winter” of 2023.

While you wait for the DLC, check out what we think is the best pokemon games.
