Pokémon: The Animated Series will replace Ash’s Pikachu with…another Pikachu.

But hey, this Pikachu is wearing a hat! That’s right, Captain Pikachu is coming aboard Pokémon: The Animated Series when the adventure’s new season kicks off later this year, and this creature will act as the trusted sidekick to new character Friede, who you can watch at left just below. .

We give you a first look at two new characters from the new and upcoming Pokémon animated series! Meet Friede and his partner Pokémon, Captain Pikachu, who accompany our protagonists on their adventures! Stay tuned, Trainers; it will come soon!

Pikachu’s body isn’t even cold yet, and Pokemon: The Animated Series is already preparing another Pikachu to replace it. Hopefully fans of Ash’s adorable ally can bond with Captain Pikachu like they have with the iconic electric mouse for the past two decades.

“I mean this Pikachu is cool and anything but this PIKACHU. Because let’s be real, the only Pikachu is Pikachu,” one longtime Pokemon fan wrote in the tweet above. “Even though I’ve loved Pikachu since Ash first met him, it would have been nice to see another Pokemon get some love,” said another equally disappointed fan.

There’s also the brilliant use of a scene from The Simpsons just below to portray how Pokemon fans are feeling right now. Not everyone really wants another Pikachu to star in the new Pokémon animated show, but the relentless march of capitalism doesn’t stop for anyone.

The new season of Pokemon: The Animated Series, where Captain Pikachu will make its grand entrance, is coming later this year in April, at least in Japan. Currently, there’s no official word on an international release for the anime, but it’s a good sign that Pokémon’s English Twitter account is promoting Captain Pikachu.

Earlier this month, we took a look at the two newest protagonists of the Pokémon series: Liko and Roy, who will together headline the new anime series.
