Sony has confirmed that Discord integration is now live on PlayStation 5. This will see the full chat app added to the console as part of the 7.0 firmware update rollout on March 8, 2023.
This feature has been in the works for a while, with Sony buying a stake in Discord in 2021. While some account linking features have been around for a while now through this partnership, full chat functionality has just arrived.
The feature is fully compatible with other devices using Discord, meaning PS5 players can chat with friends on PC, mobile, or Xbox with no extra effort. All that is required is a Discord account.
Discord has provided helpful information on how to link accounts to the new service. However, the application is not directly available on PS5. Instead, players will need to link their PSN account to Discord on PC or mobile and forward their call from that device to their console. Players who have already linked their accounts for previous features will need to reconnect their accounts to do so.
