Fans of Cities: Skylines scoured the list of trophies available online for the sequel and discovered some interesting news. The comments were also numerous, especially those related to the expectations and dreams of the players.

Yesterday’s announcement of the highly anticipated Cities: Skylines 2 captured the imagination of thousands of gamers. They wonder what’s new in the next generation of Paradox’s best-selling city-building sim. There is nothing surprising in this – 8 years have passed since the release of the first game, during which a new generation of consoles has appeared, dismantling the technical limitations of PS4 and Xbox One. Fans of the first opus have decided to share their dreams and discoveries. in response to the game’s first trailer.

A list of achievements that answers many mysteries

The game developers are holding back stories about their next game for now. However, the cloak of mystery is partially removed with the full list of achievements. (via: True Achievements)appeared on the Internet thanks to Gamerscore Xbox. One of the players decided to describe the most interesting of the 40 achievements that will be included in Cities: Skylines 2. Here are some of them.

  • Anything the Light Touches – Unlock 150 map tiles in a city. First Cities allows you to build a city up to 9 tiles (size 2×2 km each), which was no longer enough after several hours. The mod called 81 Tiles increases the maximum number of fields, but unfortunately the availability of this option is limited to PC only. Increasing the limits of metropolises in the second game to 150 tiles (the same size as in the prequel) would be a huge step forward.
  • Things don’t get better: survive the rat invasion. In addition to floods, tornadoes, hail and wildfires, the second installment is likely to present another problem: rats. In the first part, the excess of garbage only results in a decrease in the satisfaction of the inhabitants of a district.
  • Four Seasons – Discover the four seasons. The production confirms what we saw in the trailer. Seasons will be an integral part of the game.
  • Strength Through Diversity: Build buildings in all four areas. The first part offers six zones: two residential and commercial variants each, as well as an industrial zone and an office zone. The second part will most likely abandon the old formula, perhaps allowing high density neighborhoods to be built early in the game.

Cities: Skylines 2 and Big Dreams

The community has made no secret of its joy and high expectations for Cities: Skylines 2. You can find the following comments and Reddit.

“Better water physics and residents using the beaches. (…) I’ve always wanted a real beach town, but the piers never feel realistic to me,” he said.

Unfortunately, Cities: Skylines did not offer water manipulation tools (we could add some on PC with mods like Extra Landscaping Tools). Maybe making a pond in a park or an entire city on a beach will eventually be possible.

“It would be great to establish a city next to a railway/port/airport”, zaiyyash

In the first Cities, the only starting point “bridge” between ours and the other cities were the roads. Being able to choose on each card a link to the outside world is an interesting idea.

“I’d love to see car crashes, train derailments, and similar random events,” glitchyentity

Random events in the city could be an interesting variety that would add more realism. Low resident satisfaction would lead to street protests and car crashes would force a temporary road closure.

“Cancel button”, hyperabsolutism

What’s there to say: the ability to override a decision would be interesting, although probably technically difficult to do.

Cities: Skylines 2 will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X. The exact release date is unknown, but it has been revealed that the game will be released this year. The title will be available in the Xbox Game Pass subscription.
