Mainframe Industries has announced Pax Dei, a community MMORPG. Among the developers responsible for the project is the co-creator of EVE Online.

Those interested in MMORPGs may have reason to rejoice. Pax Dei, an online game set in a low-fantasy world from the first Mainframe Industries studio, has just been announced. Of course, a trailer also appeared online, available below.

By reading the description of the title on the Steam product sheet, we can deduce that the developers of Paz Dei plan to create a fatasy version of Eve online. That’s not particularly surprising, as the creative director overseeing the project is Reynir Hardarson, who also worked on this space MMO.

  1. The game will be entirely community-based.. This means that we won’t find any AI-controlled characters there. It will be up to the players to create the whole economy and populate the world. Each colony we visit during the exploration will be the work of a different person.
  2. The game is to offer a lot of freedom. During the adventure we will find ourselves in an open world, where we will choose what we want to do ourselves.
  3. The universe of Pax Dei will be inspired by the Middle Ages. However, there are many supernatural beings, including ghosts.
  4. Combat in PvE and PvP modes will also play an important role in the game.
  5. The project is powered by Unreal Engine 5. Therefore, we can expect the visuals to remain at a high level (as the aforementioned trailer and screenshots below suggest).
  6. The release date remains unknown for the moment.and the same goes for the business model.

As I mentioned before, Pax Dei is developed by Mainframe Industries, a studio that has yet to release any other articles. It is therefore difficult to determine whether the end result will be satisfactory. We won’t know until the title sees the light of day. However, it cannot be denied that in this case a lot also depends on the number of players who will buy the game.
