Shadowrun Trilogy developer Harebrained Schemes announced a new game at the Paradox Interactive Showcase. The Lamplighters League and the Tower at the End of the World is a tactical RPG where you embark on a pulpy adventure through the alternate 1930s, defeating an evil global cult.

Combining real-time stealth and turn-based combat, The Lamplighters League will put you in control of a dynamic cast of characters with unique abilities, with real-time stealth stealth gameplay juxtaposed with turn-based combat.

Take a look at the world and characters below in the cinematic trailer.

The 1930s alternate history will also be filled with plenty of interesting locations, such as shipyards and deserts, with macro options such as recruitment also expanding globally.

You will recruit allies from around the world, and these outlaws and outcasts will also be hunted by the opposing cult, the Banished Court. You can learn all about game types in the following video guided by Harebrained Schemes.

“Because The Lamplighters League is set in a new world, it gives us the creative freedom to simultaneously create a narrative that supports gameplay and a game that supports narrative,” said Christopher Rogers, Game Director of The Lamplighters League.

“We love these characters and hope players and fans enjoy getting to know them as they explore each one’s unique abilities like we did. I can’t wait to share everything we’ve been working on.”

You can add The Lamplighters League to Steam right now, with a release date set for 2023.

Harebrained Schemes is known for the likes of the aforementioned Shadowrun Trilogy, but also games like BattleTech and Necropolis. We knew The Lamplighters League was going to be a new IP, as Paradox previously teased with the statement:

“It’s time to embark on a new mission, perhaps the most dangerous you have ever attempted.” There’s an airplane that appears to be from the 20th century and an MC Esche-esque building in the teaser, as well as an “LL” logo and the words “Light the Way,” which now make a little more sense.

Unfortunately, Victoria 4 and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 have already been confirmed as absent from Paradox Interactive’s show, so if you had any hope for them in the animated 30-minute showcase, we’re sorry. They say there was no news from them.

If this Paradox showcase of Harebrained Schemes’ The Lamplighters League has got you excited about what to expect this year, our list of the best upcoming PC games is sure to help fill your gaming calendar.
