I love the thrill of a close Overwatch 2 match as much as the next person, but an Overwatch 2 glitch that suddenly throws you into the enemy team in the middle of the action is a bit of an odd twist in the game. balance that nonetheless made me give a warm nostalgia to the Heady Days of Team Fortress 2. Blizzard’s competitive multiplayer game is making plenty of tweaks and improvements for Overwatch 2 Season 3, but this seemingly unintended glitch is as weird as it is fun.

Overwatch 2 usually tries to fill in the gaps when players leave, with the exception of Overwatch 2’s competitive play. a group) leaving a match. , to return when the game they just left is detected by the game’s matchmaking system. In Need.

In some cases, players have reported that leaving players can also trigger a bug that causes other players to switch between teams. He’s not a new phenomenon, having also popped up a few times in the first Overwatch, but his most recent case is one of the funniest we’ve seen in a long time.

Overwatch Reddit user Aleksey ‘Aleksey1903’ shares a clip from a game where they play supporting star Kiriko. In the video, below, we see Aleksey’s support partner, Ixus, leave the match, only to have Aleksey’s game suddenly go to the hero select screen.

Glancing at the scoreboard, Aleksey discovers that they are now part of the same team they faced before, while the two supports who were part of the enemy team have joined the team of origin of Aleksey. To make matters more ridiculous, when the clip ends, it looks like the player who originally quit joins the free slot, completing the full circle of both supporting pairs.

The enemy takes over and I switch teams in the middle of Overwatch gameplay

Alexsey adds a few more humorous notes in the comments. First, the change clearly did them a disservice as their new team lost, perhaps unsurprising given the impressive 120-25m lead that Alexsey and his starting teammates had built up. before the change. Also, Alexsey says they actually won the game of the match…but it happened while they were still on their original team.

Other commenters point out that the trade comes right after an enemy support player complained about his DPS team, with a quip, “The Blizzard gods have heard his prayer.” Similar bugs reported by players have seen other dramatic mishaps, including entire lobbies placed on brand new maps. Despite my time with the game, I’ve been lucky enough to dodge these issues myself, but it’s certainly a sight to behold.

In a one-time incident, you might consider it a silly novelty; however, being forced into a losing team after helping opponents build that dominant lead is definitely something that would be less fun the fourth or fifth time it happened. We’ve reached out to Blizzard for comment and will update the story with any response.
