The 2019 RPG The Outer Worlds recently received an updated version. The remaster was met with negative fan reception before its release, due to owners of the original (and DLC for both stories) having to pay an additional $9 for it. On the other hand, after the debut, it turned out that The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition had bigger problems: abysmal optimization. The update was punctually bombarded on Steam.

Recently a representative from Obsidian Entertainment discussed this situation in Reddit and apologized for the difficulties with which owners of the updated version of the game have to deal.

I’m sorry everyone had performance issues with The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition. I understand how frustrating this can be, and I assure you that the Private Division team is working to release a patch as soon as possible. When we have more information about this patch, we’ll be sure to let you know.”

As of now, we don’t know any details related to said patch, but there’s no doubt that the remaster needs it. Many PC gamers report that even on powerful hardware (e.g. with an RTX 4090) and with reduced graphics settings The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition struggles to maintain a constant frame rate of 30 frames per second. Performance issues also affect console versions.

Also, the Obsidian Entertainment representative reminds that if you find any other issues in the remaster, you can contact support via this link.

The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition it offers, among other things, better graphics compared to the original and minor gameplay changes.. The game debuted March 7 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles and PCs.
