When Russia started its war against Ukraine last year, several companies took a strong stance against it, simply withdrawing their products from the Russian market. One of the fiercest opponents of this unjust war was Microsoft, which announced that it would suspend all sales of products and services in Russia, while donating a lot of money and helping to protect Ukraine’s cybersecurity.

As a result, Windows is no longer supported in Russia, neither is Xbox, and Microsoft games will not be released in the country. That means Starfield won’t be there either, and now it seems that has had other consequences as well.

– Game News reports that a new update to the Starfield Steam page has removed all traces of Russian language support, which was traditionally supported by Bethesda.

No official comment has been made on the reason for this decision, but a reasonable assumption is that the fact that the game will not be released in Russia and the platforms it will be available for are not compatible played a role. We can also imagine that the gruesome reports of Russian war crimes in recent days haven’t exactly made the decision difficult either.
