Nihon Falcom chose publisher NIS America as a partner for more than just English localization. NIS America (or NISA) has officially released The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki in the Japanese PC edition. The announcement was released through their PR channels and publicly through the official website. NIS America Social Media Accounts. The game is available on Steam.

It should be noted that this is the Japanese edition of The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki on PC It doesn’t support any other language. In general, the situation is similar to that of the NIS America publication of The legend of Nayuta: endless trails on PC, where the Japanese edition will be released first, with the English localization fixed when it’s ready.

The PC edition of kuro no kiseki was developed by NIS America and PH3, the studio founded by renowned PC software modder Peter “Durante” Thoman. In a Steam blog, Thoman wrote about some of the port’s features. According to Thoman, PH3 used a large amount of newly established infrastructure to work on the project, including the asset compression and platform management capability. He also wrote the blog in part to explain why the game will seem to use a large amount of memory from a player’s PC. PC users are usually trained to see high levels of memory usage in certain games as a warning sign of a “memory leak”. Memory leaks are bad because they mean that a game or program is using more system resources than it otherwise would. This inefficiency can lead to instability or poor performance. Thomas explained that kuro no kiseki on PC, it is configured by default to use up to 80% of available system memory to speed up load times. This automatic behavior is intended, although users who don’t like it can disable it in the settings menu.

Other features include:

  • Support for ultra-wide resolutions (as well as Steam Deck’s 16:10 aspect ratio)
  • Steam platform optimization
  • High frame rate support
  • FOV customization (and automatic FOV scaling)
  • Various graphics settings such as shadow resolution, downsampling and oversampling, drawing distance adjustment, etc.
  • An overview of the real-time graphics option in the game
  • Full support for keyboard and mouse controls.

The Japanese PC edition of The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki is available through Steam. The Japanese PS4 edition was released in September 2021. NIS America has yet to announce a release window for the English localization of the game.
