Nintendo and PlatinumGames on the future of Bayonetta after Origins

Nintendo and PlatinumGames briefly commented on the future of Bayonetta in a recent interview.

Just months after debuting Bayonetta 3, released five years after it was announced, the series has just seen the release of another title with Bayonetta Origins: Cherry and the Lost Demon. It looks like we might see this sort of thing in the future, especially if series creator and Bayonetta Origins writer Hideki Kamiya gets his way.

Kamiya, along with Nintendo producer Makoto Okazaki, spoke to Japanese magazine Famitsu this week. Below is our translation of their comments when asked about the future of the series:

Kamia: If I just go out there and say it outright, we want this title to be part of a new series and keep expanding the world. There’s a lot of preparation for that, and we have discussions like, “Do we want to do this kind of thing right?” with director (Abebe) Tinari. Although we haven’t had any of these conversations with Nintendo yet…

Okazaki: (laughs) There’s certainly nothing concrete to say at this point, but at least personally, I don’t think that’s the end. For now, I think it would be best to listen to the opinions of everyone who has played this game and figure out where we should go next.

The entire Bayonetta series, including the recently released Bayonetta Origins, is available on Switch.
