EA already sends on December 2, 2022 a new Need for Speed into the race. However, the fairly recent announcement raised eyebrows. For Unbound, Criterion Games uses a mixture of realistic graphics and a comic look. And that’s really not to the taste of every player.
If you can’t do anything with it at all, you might be happy about the latest statement from the developers: Because on Twitter Criterion Games confirmed that the comic look can be reduced or completely switched off, at least in certain aspects of the game, and can also be adapted according to personal preference.

Tired of cartoon effects? The solution is simple
Just yesterday, Criterion Games released a new video for Need for Speed Unbound, which also shows a few snippets of gameplay. The teaser primarily focused on the racing effects that (can) be used while driving.
In concrete terms, this means that certain actions – such as the use of the boost – provide a comic-like effect, for example in the form of an exaggerated plume of smoke. In Unbound, the player himself should have control over how exactly these graffiti-art-inspired effects look – or don’t look.
Because the developers of Criterion Games also confirm Twitter: If you don’t feel like it, you can simply disable it completely. In fact, the effects in comic graphics are probably optional tuning accessories that nobody is forced to install.
Of course, you can get a concrete impression of this in the dewy teaser trailer for Need for Speed Unbound. There are at least a few gameplay snippets to see, with which you can judge for yourself whether the comic effects meet your taste or not.

Need for Speed Unbound erscheint on December 2, 2022 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Anyone who has subscribed to EA Play can play from November 29th. The game was officially announced only recently after Electronic Arts released a first trailer in early October. The story and optics (at least apart from the comic look) are reminiscent of the classic racing game and fan favorite underground.
