It was hard to believe anything this weekend as it was April Fool’s Day, which seems like some kind of big internet day that every business wants to be part of. April 1 was also the day ed boon decided to share an old name he (and presumably Mortal Kombat’s other co-creator, John Tobias) once considered for what we all know as Mortal Kombat.

Turns out one of the titles they played with before deciding was Kumite. Although Kumite is a good name (related to karate) that’s used quite often for tournament fights and the like, we’re really glad they thought about it a bit more. It’s hard to imagine Mortal Kombat today without “Combat”, and just about every other C word, spelled with a K, what do you think?
