Mortal Kombat 1 will have guest characters such as Kameo Fighters in future DLC

In addition, the Kameo Fighters will have their own alternate costumes.

Mortal Kombat 1 is one of the most important releases of the next month, and maybe even the whole year. This new installment in NetherRealm Studios’ series comes from a few months of promotion in which each trailer looks better than the last, and each new detail of the game makes the wait harder. One of the new features of this title is the Kameo Fighters system: fighters who will assist the players’ main character in battle. Like the playable characters, these Kameo Fighters will be part of the game’s future DLC plans, and a promotional image indicates that we can even expect guest characters as Kameo Fighters.

This information comes from the game’s Brazilian marketing. In one of the images, there is a description of what the Kameo Fighters are, explaining that in addition to assisting in the fight they will also have their own Fatalities, something that could already be tested in the game’s betas. The new information, however, is that these Kameo Fighters will have their own alternate costumes, such as Sonya in her Mortal Kombat 3 outfit, and also that as part of the post-launch content Kameo Fighters will be added as guest characters. In the DLC Kombat Pack that was already announced, Omni-Man from Invincible, Homelander from The Boys and the DC character Peacemaker played by John Cena will be playable guest characters.

This novelty opens the door to even more characters that would perhaps be difficult to implement as playable characters to make an appearance in NetherRealm Studios’ game anyway, either because the level of violence a playable character suffers is too much for some guest compared to a Kameo Fighter, or because their design would involve a more complex gameplay than usual. Something similar happens with the character Motaro, who after Mortal Kombat Trilogy had to change his design to reappear as a playable character, but as a Kameo Fighter in Mortal Kombat 1 he retains his original design.

Mortal Kombat 1 will be available this September 19 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
