After Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Moon Studios is now working on a new ARPG license whose ambitions promise, according to the studio boss, to be extremely high.

Revealed in 2015 thanks to the excellent Ori and the Blind Forest, Moon Studios currently only has two projects under its belt. – The above mentioned game and its sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, released in 2020. However, as we know, the studio is currently working on a new action RPG game to be published by Private Division. And if few details have yet been revealed about it, the least we can say is that it will be an extremely ambitious project.

Moon Studios’ next game will be “make-or-break”

“Ori was our ‘Mario’, this game will be our ‘Zelda'”. It is in these terms that Thomas Mahler evoked this future game a few weeks ago. But far from stopping there, the creative director of the studio recently took the floor to insist on a particular point, namely that this project will really aim to shake up the industry. And so much so that if the outcome fails, he might be right about Moon Studios’ future. :

Our next project will be a watershed moment for Moon: either we manage to revolutionize the ARPG genre, or we slowly fade away.

“Even though it should be scary, I LOVE a challenge” then add, before advises licenses like Diablo or Path of Exile to be careful: “We’re going for you, may the best win!” ». We’re not going to lie to each other, making such statements is quite a risky business. Because while it might sound very exciting on paper, it’s also the kind of thing that can quickly backfire on the creator if the project ultimately doesn’t live up to expectations.

Pushing the boundaries of ARPG

Anyway, that’s all we’ll have to settle now sinceAside from these ambitious statements from Mahler, the studio has yet to reveal any concrete information about the game.. The only thing that is known is that it will be a cross-platform ARPG with a top view camera whose objective will be“innovate and go far beyond what the genre has offered players so far”.
