When is the Minecraft Legends release date? This is a new action strategy game from Blackbird Interactive that takes place in the world of Minecraft. Minecraft Legends sees the player take on the role of a legendary hero whose destiny is to unite the factions of the Overworld. If Overworld doesn’t unite in time, they won’t be able to defend their homes against the Piglin army of the Nether.

Minecraft Legends was announced during the Xbox and Bethesda showcase in June 2022, so it’s still early days for the new project. With the Minecraft Legends release date now announced, we know when to expect the strategy game. Here’s everything we know about Minecraft Legends.

Minecraft Legends Game

Minecraft Legends was also showcased during Minecraft Live 2022, showing off PVP gameplay. From what we can tell, it’s likely to be quite different from the typical idea of an RTS game. As for gameplay, the official Mojang blog states that Minecraft Legends “has strategy game elements at its core, but action game immersion inspires its mechanics. You can explore the familiar Overworld but at many ways new from a third-person perspective. You will defend peaceful settlements and fight hordes of Piglins to stop the spread of their Nether corruption. You are at the center of every battle you fight, fighting alongside your allies while giving them instructions.”

The indirect control mechanism has already appeared in real-time strategy games, especially in the Majesty series. We envision the player having direct control over their avatar’s actions and movements, with “guided” or “directed” mechanics for telling NPC allies what to do. This will likely only apply to combat, based on what we’ve seen so far. Avatars can also get mounts, including a large purple tiger which is a new Minecraft mob.

Mojang says the player will explore procedurally generated biomes to collect resources and use them to build bases. The trailer shows the player placing a banner that allies can move to, but it also shows two Allays participating in the deconstruction of the environment, potentially gathering resources and building.

Minecraft Legends Multiplayer

You can play Minecraft Legends multiplayer in co-op mode against the AI or against each other in PVP multiplayer mode. Resources are shared with teammates and communication is key to gameplay. The world in all modes is procedurally generated, so no two games or maps are the same. Piglins will even spawn in PVP multiplayer, so players must defend against both enemy players and invading Piglins. There don’t seem to be many restrictions on where you can build, as you can create outpost camps outside of bases to put pressure on the enemy.

That’s all we know about Minecraft Legends so far. While you wait for the new spinoff game, you can check out everything coming to OG Minecraft in the 1.20 update. We also have some other great co-op games worth trying out if you want something extra to play with your friends.
