Konami could reveal the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake and a new Castlevania game at E3 2023, according to the first episode of VGC’s new podcast. Back in October 2022, we reported that a Chinese developer called Virtuos might be leading Metal Gear Solid 3’s remake, and there’s been a lot of rumors about it ever since. However, the rumor of a new Castlevania game is a surprise.

Konami apparently doesn’t know how to approach old MGS games

As for what Konami might show at E3 2023, Andy Robinson on the VGC Podcast named two games in particular:

There’s a new Castlevania in addition to the Dead Cells (Return to Castlevania) DLC they announced at The Game Awards, so that’s the most advanced I’ve been told. And then, of course, there’s that much-discussed remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 that I also hope they finally show.

He goes on to say that Konami has apparently been hesitant on how to approach older Metal Gear Solid games, whether they should get a new release, or how they should be made available for modern platforms.

This adds more context to an earlier leaked report from January that said there’s a “strong” chance we’ll hear about a remake of the first Metal Gear Solid before May 2023.

These older MGS games were supposed to have been in Konami’s plans for several years. Robison speculates that Konami will take the reception of the MGS3 remake as a “test bed” on how to move forward with these other Metal Gear Solid projects.
