Odencat provided a final release date for meg’s monster, your next adventure role-playing game. Switch owners will be able to get their hands on the game from March 2, 2023.

Meg’s Monster was confirmed for Switch last May. It was originally slated for a fall 2022 release. The game was quietly delayed, but it’s unclear why more time was needed.

We have a ton of additional information on the game in the summary below:

Meg’s Monster tells the story of two unlikely friends, locked in a unique, gritty, scripted turn-based combat system in which the player controls a nigh-invincible monster who must defeat enemies while protecting a fragile human child with strange apocalyptic powers. – because if she cries, the whole world dies.

Meg the human girl (whose tears have the power to bring about the apocalypse) finds herself in a world full of mutants and monsters eating humans for breakfast. It’s up to a big bully named Roy and his friend Golan to help her get home. As they scour the underworld for clues to their mother’s whereabouts, the trio slowly grow closer, as they uncover some truly amazing secrets about their world and themselves.

Meg’s Monster’s retro styling and simple presentation quickly turn it into a challenging, fun, and must-play RPG. The narrative quickly pulls the player into the story while giving them real empathy for the main and central characters. Over 50,000 words of dialogue provide a rich and gripping narrative of the many battles that will ensue during your adventure. Each battle comes with its own unique mechanics and mini-games to master as you fight while protecting and keeping Meg happy with her favorite toys. Yes, keeping Meg calm and happy is just one underlying factor, and a good toy will do, but it’s not that simple!

Roy the monster has 99999 HP and is almost invincible (since almost all enemies can’t kill him – think Saitama from One Punch Man). However, when he takes damage, the other protagonist, Meg, takes emotional and mental damage as she is a child and cannot stand seeing Roy hurt. If her mental gauge reaches zero, she will cry and the world will end. This means that players will have to balance Meg’s mood, as well as defeat enemies who want to destroy them. Roy will have to use toys to keep Meg happy and keep her from crying.

Acclaimed Monster Hunter, Hi-Fi Rush and Atelier Ryza 2 composer Reo Uratani and a theme song with ethereal, otherworldly lyrics written and performed by Laura Shigihara of Plants vs Zombies, To the Moon, Rakuen and Deltarune, Meg’s Monster soundtrack has a lot to offer.
