Terraformers’ release date is almost here, and it’s adding some extremely exciting new features as it rolls out of Early Access on Steam and GOG for the full 1.0 release. The Mars-based space city builder adds the ability to found cities on the two Martian moons of Phobos and Deimos, along with several other additional tweaks, as it progresses towards full release.
Terraformers sees you building a colony on the Red Planet, exploring and founding cities across its vast surface while discovering resource deposits, giant crystal caves and other natural wonders. As the name suggests, you’ll have the ability to actively terraform the planet to change its very being and climate, whether it’s reactivating a dormant volcano, building massive space mirrors to direct the energy of the Sun or strategically crush nearby ice asteroids.
As part of the 1.0 update, the Asteroid Lab team introduced the ability to found cities on both moons of Mars. Phobos and Deimos are up for grabs, and you’ll need to complete a specific project to initially establish a city in each. They’re tiny compared to the surface of Mars (and even compared to our own Moon), but they each have unique bonuses.
Settling on Phobos grants you access to the most interconnected city layout in the game, allowing you to link your structures and upgrades in more intricate ways. It also has access to an aquifer and will increase its tourism and commercial potential. Meanwhile, Deimos has titanium deposits and anomalies, meaning you’ll get extra science from buildings there and also see a reduction in the cost of future space projects, making it a great hub launch pad for other space missions. .
The Terraformers 1.0 update also includes eight levels of unlockable content, 17 new buildings, an additional space project, three additional technologies, and three new rulers. You may encounter two new events: moveable asteroids in space and a potential planet. -Destroying meteorite that you will have to deal with.
