We expect The Lords of the Fallen to be more like Elden Ring than we think. Apparently, the developers themselves were surprised by the similarity of the reboot to the work of FromSoftware.

The creative director of The Lords of the Fallen, Caesar Virtosu of CI Games-owned studio Hexworks, recently gave an interview to Edge (you can find it in issue 381). He reveals that the next reboot – just like lords of the fallen From 2014, it will be based on games created by DeSoftware.

However, while the original, due to its age, was mostly inspired by the first two installments of the Dark Souls series, The Lords of the Fallen is more likely to resemble the latest game from Japanese developer Elden Ring. So much that it will feature flails (a type of weapon), as well as a boss that is very reminiscent of Malenia, Blade of Miquella.

Interestingly, Virtosu suggests that both were designed before Elden Ring was released. The team would have been severely disappointed by this revelation. “It killed us inside”said the creative director.

Driven into a rivalry with the work of FromSoftware, Hexworks is raising expectations for The Lords of the Fallen. “As you can guess, there is some pressure,” Virtosu said. “People ask things like ‘Do you have a combat mount? Do you have an open world?’

As a reminder, I would add that The release of lords of the fallen is scheduled for 2023, but its exact date has not been announced at this time. The title is intended for PC, PS5 and XSX/S.
