For this test, we treated two models, the classic launched last August in its black version, and the special K / DA edition just presented by Logitech. Two series which differ only in their aesthetics, their technical characteristics such as the accessories supplied being strictly the same.

We will therefore find in each box the headset, a USB dongle of the same color, and a USB / USB-C cord to ensure the charge. Note also that the classic version of the G733 exists to date in 4 colors: black, blue, mauve and a white version on which the K / DA model is based. Here again, everything is a matter of taste.

A beautiful level of manufacturing

From the first glance, the G733 looks very serious. No squeaking at first handling and a nice impression of quality despite a rather surprising lightness in view of the rather substantial volume it occupies.

You can twist it in all directions, it quickly returns to its place without showing the slightest weakness, nor making the slightest crackle heard.

In terms of finish, we are in the presence of a thick plastic, mat and slightly grainy on most surfaces, with a slight shiny strip around the headset and behind its articulation to satisfy the amateurs of fingerprints.

The G733 is designed around two parallel and flexible hoops, which are assisted by an elastic strap. It is moreover she and she alone who comes into contact with the top of the head.

We really appreciated this combo, especially since it offers a very satisfactory level of adjustment with on the one hand the possibility of putting each side of the elastic band at two levels of different heights, and on the other hand an adjustable height for each atrium, 1.5 centimeters per side.

Globally, the helmet will fit most skull sizes, with a good positioning of the atria thanks to a ball joint adding 15 ° vertical.

A light and very comfortable helmet

The G733 is also particularly pleasant to wear. It’s quite firm on the sides but not too oppressive, and it offers good weight distribution between the suspension and the ear cups.

Well in place on the skull, we forget it quickly and it is appreciable to be able to wear it for hours without having the slightest discomfort and without feeling the need to replace it. For a closed helmet, it’s really good.

The atria are not for nothing. Thick enough to isolate outside sounds, and compatible with spectacle wearers, their finely braided fabric still allows a little air to pass through and offers a less present feel than imitation leather.

And obviously there is this weight, of only 280 grams, almost 100 grams less than the Pro X Wireless of the brand, which prevents the whole from weighing on the cervicals in the long run. It is not quite at the level of what Plantronics offers, but we are almost there.

Limited in terms of compatibility

The G733 works wirelessly, on battery, with an autonomy announced at 29 hours without RGB lighting and 20 hours with the colors activated. Values that we could have verified at 90% sound power (and therefore a little less if you use the headphones constantly at 100%).

It offers on the headset a volume (that of the OS) by wheel, a mute of the microphone and an on / off button. For its connection, rely solely on Logitech’s LightSpeed wireless protocol, and its USB dongle. This is the main limitation of the headset which works neither in standard Bluetooth nor with an analog source in mini-jack 3.5.

On one hand it stops dead when the battery is flat, and on the other hand it is limited to certain platforms, namely computers, PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, and the Switch in docked mode only.

The G Hub interface as efficient as ever

Finally, only Mac and Windows PCs will be able to use G HUB software interface that accompanies this G733. An interface that, like that of the G PRO series, invites us to enjoy many settings and effects for the microphone, under the supervision of Blue Microphone, the studio / streaming subsidiary of Logitech.

Neophytes will therefore find parameters limited to the simplest, with profile management and import of settings, while the more seasoned can jump on the equalization, compression, filters and noise gate, to sharpen their voice with precision.

And if it still lacks an attenuator of ambient noise for the ears, that of the microphone is quite effective in the median values. Note also that we really appreciated the proximity effect, which makes you hear your voice in the headphones when you speak, on the one hand for the quality of the rendering, and on the other hand for the precision of the proposed adjustment.

A little word also on the lighting, since it is present, which can be modified on 4 zones, two per side or in all synchronized (with or not with other products of the mark besides).

But beyond the usual effects, one function nevertheless caught our attention: the adjustment of the color in relation to that of the screen, which automatically switches the LEDs to the dominant color of an area of the screen. It works very well, it’s smart, it’s practical, and it gives a little aesthetic sense to this lighting.

Balanced sound for your ears and voice

Even before its passage through the equalization, the G733 offers us a balanced and very pleasant sound. Its highs enjoy a beautiful finesse and a good presence in the highest part of the spectrum. If you like detailed tones, you’re going to be served.

At the same time, the mids keep a reasonable place, sufficient for the voices to be audible but limited enough to avoid any aggressiveness.

The bass has a correct place, which would have deserved a little more decibels in the default equalization. Small detail, we found some frequencies that made the shell of the headset vibrate slightly on low frequencies at high volume.

Not enough to cry scandal but a little embarrassment to the program for who will notice the vibration. The equalizer, on the other hand, allows you to really sculpt the sound, with nice reactions from the speakers, as always with the brand.

It is thus possible to inflate or attenuate all the frequencies without the saturation coming to put its nose in the business.

At the same time, we cannot say that the volume obtained when everything is at full blast is that high. It’s enough to play, to watch a movie, but we wouldn’t have said no to a few more Watts, just to have a little reserve. Fortunately, the passive insulation of the headphones is quite good.

Not enough to play in a crowded room, but enough so that everyday noises do not take you out of your concentration in the game even without turning the volume to maximum.

Our first concern finally came from the removable boom microphone, in memory of the disappointing G Pro X Wireless. And clearly, Logitech has revised its copy and made things better. The sound obtained here is much more natural, precise, with a respected timbre, although a little loaded in treble.

It will be necessary to control the volume of the voice so as not to go into saturation, the level of collection of the capsule being rather low and the first signs of limitation of the signal arriving quickly. It is therefore in clear progress, perfectly suited to streaming, with the added bonus of tools that are still as pleasant on the G HUB side, but it is still possible to do better.

A very successful model, which is little lacking

In the end, when it comes to counting the good points and the bad points, this G733 is doing really well. It is comfortable, very comfortable even, light and qualitative, it offers a nice sound to the ears with a quality microphone. What could be better?

And clearly, an opening to more platforms would have been welcome with a mini-jack input and Bluetooth compatibility for example. Enough to make it a major market reference, especially since the requested price, namely 149 € in launch price, remains completely consistent with the level of performance of the headset.

The notes

+Good points

  • A sober, elegant, well-made helmet
  • Super comfort and ease of adjustment
  • A very good sound, balanced and without aggressiveness
  • 20 hours of autonomy
  • The adjustment possibilities of the software, Mac and Windows
  • The sound of the microphone, clean
  • The range and quality of the wireless connection
  • A good insulation / ventilation compromise

-Negative points

  • No analog input / output
  • No bluetooth either
  • Slight vibration with some low frequencies

Logitech signs a very consistent model with this G733. The comfort, finish, sound quality and ergonomics are there, and we like to deal with a light headset but which gives us confidence in its quality of manufacture.

Supported by the excellent G HUB software with all the Voice tools of Blue Microphones, the sound is quickly and easily shaped to create profiles more oriented than the balance of frequencies proposed by default. I

ts introductory price of 149 € makes it a first choice model, if you accept the limitations of its wireless connection via USB dongle.
