During the interview, he was asked if he was interested in reprising his Star Wars persona, to which Neeson replied, “No, I’m not.” He added, “There are so many Star Wars spin-offs. It waters me down, and it took the mystery and the magic away from me in a weird way.”
Neeson came back to play Qui-Gon Jinn in the Disney+ series, Obi Wan Kenobi, as part of a brief appearance. He is best known for playing the character of The Phantom Menace, although Qui-Gon’s time in the Star Wars Cinematic Universe didn’t last long, as he was killed by Darth Maul.
In fact, in 2022, Neeson told ComicBook in an interview that he would play Qui-Gon again, but only if it was a new movie, not a TV series. Although, in reality, Neeson returned to play Qui-Gon in a TV series, not a movie.
The main Star Wars film series has had two recent spinoffs, A thug y Solo. For TV, there’s been a ton of shows over the past few years, including The Mandalorian, Boba Fett’s Book, Obi Wan Kenobi there Andor. Plus, there’s more content to come, including The Mandalorian Season 3 in March, Andor Season 2 in 2024, and all-new Ashoka and The Acolyte series.
This is something that seems to affect not only the Star Wars series, as some fans feel they are saturated with new releases, which is the case with some fans of other franchises like Marvel, who have stated that there had too many shows like this to keep up to date.
