Riot Games gives us a look at new League of Legends champion Milio, The Gentle Flame, delving into the backstory of LoL’s next character and dropping a stunning orchestral theme to welcome him into the MOBA game. A youth from Ixtal who transforms the typically destructive energy of fire into healing powers, Milio weaves adorable fire companions to help support his allies in battle.

Growing up under the tutelage of his grandmother Lupé, who was “banished to the farthest reaches of Ixtal” after her twin sister, Luné, was caught plotting against Yun Tal, Milio showed a strong affinity for the elements, but he struggled with the rules. and discipline, which led Lupé to abandon his teachings.

Milio, however, decided to continue teaching himself. She set these restrictions aside and studied nature to master the one axiom her grandmother refused to teach her: fire, the element dominated by her sister Luné. However, Milio wondered why fire was still considered such a destructive force, and upon encountering an injured village hunter he found his answer.

“As she placed her hands on the Slayer’s stomach, she felt a flash of heat… her inner flame. Milio then began to feel that same flame within himself. Focusing all her energy on this feeling, she used what nature had taught her to manifest this fire. What emerged was a shy little creature with big friendly eyes.” These flame creatures, which Milio calls his “soothing fire,” seem to be central to how he will play in the game.

So, as LoL’s champion, it seems likely that Milio will employ these flame spirits, summoning them to his side to heal and benefit his allies. Looking at some of his concept art, it’s possible he also has ways to use fire in a more classic destructive ability, but it certainly looks like we can expect him to focus primarily on support. . Along with the story reveal, Riot also released Milio’s theme, and it’s insanely good.

Milio’s theme, The Gentle Flame, is an absolutely stunning orchestral score that perfectly encapsulates the wonder of a curious young man wandering the woods, chasing fireflies and happily creating spirits of fire. The video also shows concept art of him creating and playing with these fire elves, which he appears to keep in a large satchel on his back.

This art also hints at Milio’s possible abilities, showing him placing a sprite on Teemo as a shield, but also firing fire darts at his enemies. An adorable large pixie is also shown inside his backpack. We’ll be sure to tell you more about Milio as we get it, but for now one thing is for sure: I love this boy, and he needs to be protected at all costs.
