There’s incredibly sad news coming out of Hollywood today with a report from TMZ revealing that The Wire and John Wick actor Lance Reddick has died at the age of 60. It is believed that he died of natural causes.
The actor was also known within the gaming community for his prominent role as Commander Zavala in Bungie’s Destiny series. He started playing the leader of the Titan Vanguard in 2014 and has contributed voice dialogue to the character for the past decade, including the recent Destiny 2: Lightfall.
Bungie shared the following message via their social media:
“Lance Reddick was an iconic presence on screen, in Destiny, and more importantly, in person. His love for our community shone through in Commander Zavala, in his unwavering dedication to his craft, and in the radiant kindness that touched those who surrounded him. To say he will be missed is an understatement, but no less true.”

In addition to his role as Commander Zavala in the Destiny series, Reddick has also contributed to projects like Quantum Break (Martin Hatch) and the PlayStation title. Forbidden Horizon West (Sileni). As Kotaku pointed out, many Destiny 2 players are now flocking to the in-game character of Reddick to honor their commander.
