When Valheim was released for Early Access, it was only available for Windows PC via Steam. However, the developers at Iron Gate Studio have made it clear that the game will be released on other platforms, citing that Valheim is coming to Xbox. Originally claimed by the company to be coming to Xbox with a vague spring 2023 release date, Iron Gate has now confirmed that Valheim will be an Xbox console exclusive, coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one. Luckily, players won’t have to wait long and can start playing Valheim on Game Pass in March on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

Iron Gate also previously clarified that Valheim will support cross-play, meaning players can play together on different platforms. For example, a player with the game on Xbox Game Pass can play with their friend who has the game on Steam. Valheim had a very successful Early Access period, having sold over 10 million copies as of April 2022. The game has been praised for its gameplay variety and for being highly polished for an Early Access game.

Iron Gate continued to update the game after the release of Early Access, adding new biomes for fans to explore, such as Ashlands and Mistlands. The studio also plans to make Valheim more accessible in future updates to entice more players to try the game.
