Nintendo released a Direct this week that included something for everyone, and it seems likely that PlayStation will take care of that. Well, they say there will be an inventory soon. Two of them, in fact, in the first half of 2023.

There’s still nothing official from PlayStation on this, but Jeff Grubb (from Gamesradar) reported that PlayStation has not one, but two State of Plays in the works. The same Jeff Grubb who announced there would be a Direct this week long before Nintendo officially announced it.

According to Grubb, the first State of Play should take place soon and will focus on third-party games. For example, Tchia, the Oceanic adventure that has been featured in all recent State of Plays but doesn’t yet have a release date. The second State of Play will be the biggest, and while it’s unclear when that will be, it’s expected to take place before this year’s E3, which takes place in June.

PlayStation won’t be at E3 this year, which is usual, but Nintendo and Xbox will also miss it. As for what might be shown at the eventual State of Play event sometime before, it seems very likely that Spider-Man 2 will be the culmination. The wall-crawler sequel, slated for release this year, hasn’t received a new trailer since it was announced at a State of Play in 2021.

Final Fantasy could also have a major role with two major installments arriving before the end of 2023. Both Final Fantasy 16, which will be released in the middle of a year, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, whose release date is considered for the end 2023, will be PS5 exclusives at launch. Probably for a limited time.
